I made it into this planter by first turning over the soil 6" deep in a circular patch. I then wrapped the tire tread around the prepped ground, and then worked in an additional 8" of topsoil.
So, I now have a nice deep container all ready for Spring. It is about 40" in diameter. I will probably plant an early crop of loose leaf lettuces in it, and then later re-sow it with mixed flowers. Something to look forward to! I love the tread pattern, and may at some future time decide to get colorful and paint it out as a mosaic pattern of sorts.
